Why are family photos important?
and why you should schedule family photos asap!
What makes family photos important?
Growing up, the only professional photos I had were sports pictures or school dances. We never took family pictures and I never even had senior pictures done! 😲
Research shows that when children see themselves in pictures hung up in your home, they have more confidence and feel more accepted. You can think what you want about research, I also just think having photos of the people that you love make the absolute best pieces of art to display.
Here are 4 reasons why I think having family photos taken is so important:
-Capturing time as it is-
None of you will look like this in one year or 10 years! As humans, we are constantly changing in our meat suits and we should capture it so we can see how much we change! It's beautiful! From seeing a baby grow into a child to seeing mom or dad grow grey hairs. Every piece of being human is so incredible!
This can also be capturing what everyone enjoys at the time too! A two year old might be on the move and never sit still and then they hit 5 and all of a sudden, they want to snuggle with you again! Being able to look back and remember who everyone was at that time is such a fun way to continue to connect with your partner and your children.
-Remembering what we looked like-
I know we are pushed to think that we need to look a certain way, but I think that all humans look beautiful at every stage of their life! So I love to capture that in a way that you can look at and see your beauty.
We watch as babies grow into children then into teens then into young adults and we are just in awe of them. We should continue to watch young adults grow into adults and grow into older adults with the same awe and excitement.
-Capture the feelings and create a memory and moment with your loved ones-
While get that "look at the camera and smile" image is on the list of ones to get, I also prompt you and your family to just be themselves and be together and love on each other and laugh with each other! Having your photos taken isn't just about creating this "perfect family" look, it's also about creating a memory and moment that you will smile about when you look through your images. Or for your kids to smile and laugh at when they see them every day hanging in your home.
-Having something to look at over and over to remind you how much felt that day! -
It's a moment in time that you and your family did something together. That you created a memory together. And I was there to photograph it for all of you to have forever and ever! 🥰
They are an investment in yourself and your family and no one ever regrets taking the photo! Well…. unless it becomes evidence in court. 🤪
