Why have professional newborn photos taken?
It’s strange to look at all adults and think about how once upon a time, they were tiny, little newborns. 👶 But that’s exactly how it goes!
One day you are deciphering their toddler talk and the next, you are watching them with their own life. I am already feeling this with my own 8 year old daughter, Harper. 💕 She still wants me for a lot of things, but I know she doesn’t need me and she is having her own life in school with her friends. Basically, you stop seeing their every moment of life and why not document as much of it as you possibly can? 📸
Having newborn photos taken encapsulates SO MUCH about becoming parents and about your tiny human. Here are a few reasons I think you should document this moment in time:
1. They will never be this small ever again -
Literally like every day they grow, they get a little bigger 😂
Someone said that to me once during a newborn session and I just was floored and really took it in. Yes. This human is the smallest they will ever be and growing is inevitable! One cannot stop time from doing it's thing.
Newborn pictures capture the tiny toes, tiny fingers, and all the other little features about them.
2. For you & your partner to remember what those first moments were like-
Yes, you are tired. That’s the inevitable! But there is also this bliss that comes from seeing your little squish once they are experiencing life on earth.
With becoming a parent, we all go through it! Babies don’t know the human made rules, so they are up all night or want to be held to fall asleep, newborn photos can capture the snuggly and love times you have for your child and you have for your partner.
3. Good way to remember important and/or handmade items-
When Harper was born, she received some beautiful crocheted items that I didn’t want to be ruined. 💜 Being able to use those items in Harper’s newborn pictures have kept those items with us even though I have the actual ones in storage.
If you have your newborn session in your home, then you can remember what the nursery looks like as well!
4. To enjoy your child and enjoy each other -
Having a newborn completely flips your life upside down. You are immediately on their timeline (refer back to #2 for examples 😂 ). Whatever your child needs, you have to give it to them because, well, they are helpless little squishes!
During our sessions, we will take family photos and photos with each parent. Then, it’s little squishes turn to be the model they were born to be! 😍 This means, I get all the newborn snuggles I can and parents get to sit back and watch or plan their grocery list 😂 .
Being a parent myself, I know what it’s like to get a moment to yourself to be able to breathe and know that your child is in safe hands. ♥️
